[Review] Seoul Angmusae(서울 앵무새): If You Want to Chat with Friends Over Sweet Desserts

yongsan branch

In the bustling streets of Yongsan, there lies a vibrant and delightful café that has captured the hearts and taste buds of many – Seoul Angmusae. Known for its diverse and scrumptious desserts, as well as its pop-art inspired interior, this hotspot has become a must-visit location, trending on Instagram and beyond. With its main branch situated in Seongsu-dong and a branch in Jeju, Seoul Angmusae is more accessible than ever. Today, I am excited to share my experience and review of the Yongsan branch, taking you through the layers of sweetness and color that await.

The Space:

1st floor of cafe

Spanning three floors, Seoul Angmusae offers ample space for its visitors. You place your dessert and drink orders on the first floor, and then head up to the second or third floors to enjoy your treats. During my visit on a weekend that coincided with Halloween, the second floor was bustling with patrons, leading me to find a spot on the third floor. While a seat near the window would have been ideal, the crowd made it clear that this place was in high demand. Don’t be fooled by the quieter first floor; make sure to check for seating availability upstairs. However, it seems that on weekdays, finding a seat wouldn’t be a challenge.

The Desserts and Drinks:

menu1
Rum raisin kouign amann
menu2
Pineapple kombucha

My order consisted of a rum raisin kouign amann, an Americano, and a pineapple kombucha. The kouign amann was a crunchy pastry, with rum and raisin cream sandwiched between two layers, and half-coated in white chocolate. The pastry was not overwhelmingly buttery, and the cream was pleasantly less sweet than anticipated, though the rum flavor was subtle. Overall, it was a decent treat.

The pineapple kombucha was served with a fluffy topping of cotton candy, which I’d advise to capture quickly in photos before it melts into the drink, transforming it into a sweet, refreshing beverage. This drink was also not overly sweet, making it a perfect companion for any dessert.

The Atmosphere:

The café was adorned with bright colors and pop-art décor, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere. Mascots of parrots were spotted throughout, aligning with the ‘Seoul Angmusae’ theme. The place was buzzing with customers, showcasing just how popular this café is.

Conclusion:

Seoul Angmusae in Yongsan is the perfect spot for those looking to indulge in sweet treats while catching up with friends. The colorful ambiance and delicious desserts provide ample opportunities for Instagram-worthy photos, making every visit a memorable one. And if you find yourself wanting to explore more of what Yongsan has to offer, be sure to visit the Amorepacific Museum of Art and the i’Park Mall, home to Korea’s largest IMAX cinema. Sweet treats, delightful colors, and a whole lot of fun await at Seoul Angmusae. Don’t miss out on this vibrant hotspot in the heart of Yongsan!
